Right after getting alll the help to get my sump going at full wack! its just WAY to noisy for my bed room :(:(:(:(:( witch is a bugger cos i really wanted to give it ago!!

SO.. im now talking about extnal filters

I had 3 running befor with there own tubes running in to the tank!

can i use 1 main tube in the tank to sypon the water out and split it in to 3 spreate tubes?

Same as the out put 1main tube then split it in to 3 tubes??

Its a real shame about the sump as i had lots of plans for it :(

But theres no way in stopping the bubbles coming down the drain pipe

If you use a smaller pump to push the water back into the tank from the sump, it will run slower and create a lot less noise. The sump will still work but it will take longer to turn over the tank volume.
My cousin used a large Aquaclear800 powerhead to run the sump on his 6x2x2ft tank. It made very little noise. Then he upgraded to an Eheim 1060 I think, and it turned over a lot more water but increased the bubbling and noise by a huge amount. He went back to the Aquaclear.

If you use one drain pipe and divide it into 3 for the external filters, the filters might not get enough water flowing through them. However, it could work but you would have to use a fairly large diameter pipe for the drain.

I don't think so. Especially since it needs light(it's a plant). It would just die and rot if put in a canister.
I'm assuming you're talking about external canisters

Yes external filters! what about putting it in a tank? sopose it would just look nasty and make a mess!

I've seen some tank shots w/cheato in their tank. I think...if I remember right Johnny T that just put up some shots has some in his. look at those in the chit chat section.

You can have it in the tank, it can become a pain if it starts growing everywhere though...

neh caheto is very easily maintained in a tank, brilliant for 'pump fodder' , covers up my massive rio pump for my v2 skimer. If you are wanting to put the chaeto in your sump you can use any daylgith tube from t8's to a desk lamp if you wish!. If you want it in a canister then this is a bit more tricky, you need to find yourself a micro bulb- i think aqua one do soething along these lines- its basicaly a small bubl with a colour spectru of around 6500k.. or 2400k one of those two, perfect for algae growing- You drill a hole in the top of one of your canisters, pop the micro bubl through the hole and silicon it up like hell. This can be risky because if you dont silicone the hole over properly you may end up upsetting the presure of your canister and making a very costly water feature where you really dont want it!
