hey guys,

i recently resiliconed a 40 long fish tank. i let it stand for 2 days to allow it to cure and yesterday i slowly filled it back up in my garage (approx 10 gallons at a time and let it sit for an hour). i was just wondering how long i should let it sit in the garage before i bring it into my living room. it has been filled to the brim for just under 24 hours without any signs of a leak.

thanks,

After a couple of days, I would be starting to gain some confidence in my work. The listed cure time for any silicone I use is longer than 2 days and is something I would never try to rush. The cure is probably more important than many other factors when it comes to repairing the tank.

no reason to give it any longer than the silicone states. if it aint cured, by that time, it will never cure. but, i find, a week filled after fixing, should show any signs of weakness. remember though, the silicone will be no, harder or better cured, for time. after 24-48 hours (maker dependent), its all over, good or bad.
