This is my 3rd tank and knock on wood... been doing well. This is another 55 gallon tank. Got this and the other one ( which I think is 20 gallon ) for a big price tag of 20 bucks and cost of pick up.

I can confirm that the GE Silicone clear I is still the stuff to use ( it has USDA clearance so to say with food contact so that more or less means its okay for fishy )

Anyways, my question is, how do you best avoid the fumes? Your pretty much face in the tank. Once you start you can not stop of course... and the worse part seems to be when your really in there smoothing out the bead. Right now I feel like I am well... back in my younger days.... you get the picture :S .

Outside of a respirator, maybe a clip on fan blowing fresh air into the tank...

I thought of that but I would almost think that would cure the silicone much fast then .... you only really have about 7 minutes before the "skin" forms and makes it pretty hard to work with.

Try working outdoors on a breezy day. At least it won't concentrate quite as much. An air supplied mask is really the best way to go but that kind of equipment would be prohibitively expensive for most of us.
