Just moved house, so have had to re-organise the fish and rescape everything (I love rescaping)
anyway, my larger tank isnt quite finished yet, but my 160L is pretty much done
I will be letting the java ferns spread out to create a kind of low level jungle with the slates jutting out eventually
It's not obvious from the picture, but none of the slates touch the rear of the tank, the fish can easily swim behind them, leaving plenty of hiding places
I've kept this one pretty minimalistic, my 250L is decidedly more complex, will post some shots of it once I've finished

1 x Mating pair of Keyhole Cichlids
9 x Black Widow Tetras
8 x Green Tiger Barbs

I really like this scape, i've never thought or seen Java Fern planted in such a way, its quite unique and when it grows it'll look pretty amazing. Just checking you havnt buried the rhyzome of the plant though, if you have it'll rot and the entire plant will die.

I love keyhole cichlids, they're so timid and shy its adorable.

I really like it too, I think the stock and scape work very nicely together. :D You should enter the tank of the month competition.

Edit: Perhaps take the filters n thermometor out for the tank of the month picture though.

Wow what a lovely little setup, the fish species you have chosen look great together. Ever thought of replacing the wee internal filters for an external? Thats really the only thing I would change if it was me.

Thanks Curiosity! I didnt even know there was a tank of the month competition!

~T~, I have looked into it, the only thing that puts me off is the price... one day :)

That looks really good! I like the stock as well.

I'm doing a similar thing with java fern in one of my 65 litre tanks. Takes AGES though!

Can pick them up second hand pretty cheaply off ebay. Thats all I run in my tanks now, would never go back to messy cloggy internals.
