Hi all, just a qucik question or two. Below is my tank and how it currently looks. As i want to make the tank into an amazon tank I want to do away with the hood and replace with a light pendent and have an open top tank. The only problem is that the hood is all one moulded piece including the plastic trim around the top, which has inbuilt bracing bars which make cleaning the tank very tricky.
Idealy i would do away with the bracing bars but i no this is dangerous so my i had the idea of removing all of the hood, applying a thiner strip of trim round the top and cuting two strips of 10mm thick clear acrylic and siliconing these in the tank as new brace bars moving them further apart and adding some waterproof LEDs to make a feature of them.
Would it be safe to do this. Photos of the tank are below ive also included a quick drawing done on paint to show the new idea.
