I understand that moderators have a life outside this forum, everybody has busy lives, but there are threads floating around that are unacceptable and have been reported by several different members, yet are not being removed, even though members of the moderating team have been online.

I dont want to start a mod bashing thread, this is in no way meant as that, I and other members here appreciate the job that you do and that sometimes threads slip thru the net, but if someone could please check the reported threads, it would be much appreciated. Thank you :)

Thanks for pointing this out, Minx.

Can you point me towards the threads in question, and I'll get them dealt with?

At the moment, I understand that if there are mods appointed to a section, the reports from that section go to those mods. If no mods are appointed, all mods get the report.

It may be the case that we have sections with only inactive mods or very rarely active mods appointed, so none of the active mods are receiving the message.

If you can point me in the right direction, I'm sure we can get this sorted out. Maybe its an issue which needs raised upstairs.

Thanks

I have to agree with minx.

BTT we were under the impression and correct me if im wrong but mods in the past have said that if a report is sent, all mods recieve it?...

This is why i commented on having more mods on the forum in the suggestions section, as varying times throughout the day no mods are actually active.

Dealt with, Thanks Minx.

Those threads were all in the Oddballs section, which has BigC appointed, so my understanding is that only he will receive the reports, and he hasn't been online since 7am. Maybe one of the longer-serving mods can confirm, but thats certainly what I understand happens.

For the mean time, if the mod appointed to the section isn't online, its maybe worth PMing another mod who is online in addition to hitting the report button. I'll also raise the issue upstairs.

Cheers

Cheers m8, as i said and have always said, the mods to a fantastic job most of the time, however i am almost certain that in the past a report would go to all parties concerned and thsi im sure has been said by mods previously.

Or even get something in the board that send the alert to the appointed mod if they are on-line, or any mod if one appointed to that section isn't on-line, that way response time improves, as the report gets to an on-line mod sooner. Just a thought to raise with the people whom do the board coding...

All the best

Just an FYI for everyone, we are talking about making this better in the mod's section. It looks like when the board gets its software upgrade there will be better ways of notifying the mods when something gets reported. This subject is not being ignored.

Sorry for the inconvenience. I think that report was also in the middle of the night for us here in the US as this particular thread was started at 5:30 AM my time and even earlier for a couple mods. Unfortunately, there is going to be a period that there may not be a mod online. From about 11PM here in the eastern US (4AM UK time) to probably 2 or 3 AM US time (7 or 8 in the UK), there won't likely be very many mods active (probably not that many members either).

In the mean time, until we can get it all sorted out, if you see a thread that needs attention, hit the report button but also, look at the board to see which mods are online. You can also sent them a PM with a link to the thread. Of course, it may be that they really aren't online but just stay logged in as I do. But even in that case, it will mean more mods get the PM making it more likely that one of us will see it quickly.

Then wouldnt it be an idea to have more UK mods or even more international mods?, 4 reg'ed on at the moment and only 1 is from the uk, i know the time is earlier in the us right now and it's pretty late here in the uk, but even during the day there isnt verymany mods from the uk on or on for long periods of time.

Was also mentioned in this thread HERE!! which seemed to just be over looked, not the actuall livebearer mod but mods in general..... was a comment i made after bignose's comment reagrding the mods position and there duties.

Do you mods not have a private forum hidden?

On other forums I trawl there are normally these features for example large forums have the main public section plus have an area for selected "gurus" to hang out where the rules are slightly stretched and other members can be discussed and criticised with miscellaneous topics ect. basically a section where members have proved themselves mature and respectable can relax and chat without inclusion on the public forum so that the forums name is not tarnished and an admin/mods forum which is above this where mods discussions are held. Would a post in the mod forum not be more appropriate for spam that is automatically created and deleted once dealt with so that it is quickly and effectively solved.

Also secondly It sounds like you have quite a few issues on the forum basic software front in terms of what you are given by "IPS, inc" perhaps moving to a subscription service like vbulletin would allow for greater ease for moderators abilities to be influenced.
