I changed the floss filter pad in my EX700 at the weekend as the flow was reduced and it was brown. I washed the other filters out in aquarium water and reassembled after my water change. How often should the other carbon filters be replaced? Conflicting info depending on where you look.

Any easy way of cleaning the pipes out, plus where can I get a spare bung from the end of the spray bar?

Thanks.

to clean pipes i use a pipe cleaner for brewing equipment cost me £2 and think it was from Wilkinson's it is about 2m long with hard bristles on each end of a tough yet flexible spring cord, absolutely FANTASTIC for cleaning the crud out of pipes on my ex700 !!

as for the bung I'm not too sure but there is bound to be a spare part no for it somewhere or get a bit of plastic that will fit in / over and use aquarium silicone or similar safe product to glue into place o a huge dollop of aquarium safe silicone sealant.

if you use carbon then it should be replaced frequently. Normal carbon should be replaced about once a month. Activated carbon will last longer and normally gets replaced every 2 months.
If you use plant fertiliser or aquarium medications then don't use carbon because it will absorb the stuff out of the water.
New carbon should be rinsed under the tap before use. This is done to wash out any fine dust that may be in it.

Sorry, my mistake. Its not the carbon filter, its the biological filter foam I mean about how long before replacing? (I've looked in the manual now)!

you only replace the filter sponge when it starts to break down. In about 10yrs time.

you can if you want to give them your money :)
just replace them when they start to fall apart.
