I've had a couple of deaths in my tank of late, the older fish have been fine and there isn't any apparent nasties in the tank. I've got excellent water parameters with a PH of 7.6.

I used to have a clownloach in another tank years ago and absolutely love them but I know alot of people see this as cruel to keep them in small tanks - if I were to have two in my larger tank (see sig) would this be ok?

If not, what loach or equivalent would you recommend? Sorry it's the typical open ended question but I'm at a bit of a loss what to go for next.

My main requirement is for the fish(es) to be a good community fish.

Thanks!

Hi,

It would be cruel to keep clowns in such a small tank as they grow 12 inches+ a great alternative would be zebra loach (botia striata) which grow 3-4 inches or chain loaches (botia sidthimonki) which grow around 2 inches. Loaches need to be in groups of 3+. There are several other loaches which would be suitable such as dario loaches which grow the same size as zebras. Take a look on www.loaches.com for more info.

Emma :D

Can't say I know very many loach species, but I agree that the clown loach cannot be kept in either tank. :/
