Hi all:
I have a 26 US gallon All-Glass bowfront tank. The standard light strip is 15W which gives me about 0.6 W/gallon. I would like to upgrade the light stirp to something with more wattage so I can have a shot at growing some live plants.
I talked with All-Glass and they recommend their CoraLife 65W single strip light combined with a new VersaTop glass top. However, when I was my lfs tonight, they said that 65W will probably heat up the tank by as much as TEN degrees! That doesn't sound right especially since All-Glass has made this recommendation to me.
Can someone provide some comments as to how much the tank temperature might rise during 8-12 hours of illumination with one of these 65W CoraLife hoods? I keep the tank at 80F.
If there are other hoods I might consider, could someone provide some input on that too? It does have to work with the bowfront design and perhaps 65W is more than I need anyways. That tank "trim" is oak in color and so is the stand so I would also like the hood color to be compatible with the oak color.
Thanks!
