Repairing cracked tank

Hi al,

One of my tanks cracked last week. It has a pretty big crack on its base. I was wondering, can i repair it without taking the glass off?

I mean, can I just get a piece of glass the same size as the base, get a thick layer of silicone and just stick it to the bottom?

So what would you recommend?

Should I just take off all te silicone connecting the base glass to the rest and replace it, or should I just throw the tank in the bin?
