I need people(considering no one has answered my other topic)to answer my question about external filters.I am looking for a quiet and preferably cheap external filter where the media is cheaper and if so people who have had these filteration systems before to comment aswell.I hope you can include all the details you can please,
Thankyou

I like the Eheim and Fluval filters. Right now I am running a Fluval and I cannot complain. I crammed the first two containers with filter floss and the last with bio-media. I also have the surface skimmer attachment on the intake of the fluval to keep the surface from developing a film. I run a Penguin Bio-wheel on the same tank too. Everything is doing super.

The Fluvals are a bit less expensive than the Eheims. HTH
:)

The Eheim is hands down superior in every way, BUT you must pay for that, and since Fluvals do get the job done and are reliable overall, whether the extra money is worth is a personal decision. Me, I go with the Eheim Classics because they have the quality and effectiveness of the pro, but not the features, so they are considerably cheaper.

Hey thanx for all your replys and everything! :D :D :D but i was wondering if all the filters are quiet(my mums a light sleeper)and also if rena filters are a good idea because my LFS do them really cheap about £60 for an XP 1(i think thats cheap)but i may go for the fluval seeing as EHeim media is really expensive!

Most canisters are quiet, but Eheim is definately the quietest (silent) and the Filstars are the loudest.

but i may go for the fluval seeing as EHeim media is really expensive!

Hint: You can use any media in any filter if it fits. What do I use i my Eheim? Filter floss! (can't get cheaper then that ;)
