Has anyone done it, is so how?

I have manged to get the top pads cut through but the bottom ones I cannot get anything down them.

Have you tried using a long Stanley knife blade to cut away the silicon? I think this is the way some people remove the filter box

Yeah but the trouble is the ones at the back and its difficult for me to get to.

I was thinking of just pulling it as im sure the plastic will give before the glass but I dont want to risk it.

When we had to remove electrical equipment from pressurised rooms we used a filleting knife which had a flexible blade and it made the job a lot easier if we ran a fingertip of vaseline along the silicone

you need one of them cheap
box cutters you extend the blade
as far as it will go that will
get you the one nearest the edge
of the filter box i think once that is removed
the back ones should be easier to get at
i have done it before but a while back
hope this helps the biffster

Bit of a long shot, but the box isn't a Bioflow 6.0, by any chance?

yep, i have got the 2 off the to side and top back but the ones on the back wall of the tank at the bottom i cant get nor the one on the side near the back

i had the same problem with mine i read about people cutting them off with a Stanley blade but mine was tight up against the glass, in the end i had to use one of those cheap knives with a retractable blade that you are meant to snap sections off and i had to grind the blade down that was the only way i could get it in between the filter and the glass.

Thanks for all the replies guys, im going to continue this when I get back from Bulgaria.

I want it out because my Goby keeps getting under it :(

Mine just pulled out, however, it was a few years old by then. If you're leaving it for a bit then you may want to pop some wedges between the glass and filter to apply light pressure. You may find that time will do most of the work for you. Try to use wedges with a large surface area against the glass to avoid breakage. Also, do not push then in too hard. A little bit of pressure is probably all that's needed.

If it is indeed a Bioflow 6.0 http://www.juwel-aqu...03.htm?cat=1216 and it is surplus to requirements once removed after your Bulgaria trip, any chance we could sort out a price to post it to me, please?

I might have one up for grabs soon. Getting a new filter next weekend, so as soon as thats up and running (and i have successfully removed the BioFlow) i could sell it if you want?
If you are sure its the "elusive" Bioflow 6.0, I would be very intrested in buying it, when you are ready!
