Hi. I have the Red Sea CO2 Pro System and just recently purchased the Red Sea solenoid control valve. I am trying to remove the hose barb from the regulator so that I can fit the control valve directly to it. I cannot however remove the hose barb! The instructions say to 'use a gripping tool'. However, using such a tool damages the thread on the hose barb and it is impossible to get it undone (I have had several people attempt it; including a couple of guys in a local hardware store). I tried using a tube spanner as there is a nut at the base of the hose barb but I cannot get a tube spanner down to this nut because the plastic well around the hose barb is so narrow that a tube spanner won't fit.

Has anybody else come across a similar problem and, if so, were you able to get the hose barb off?
