Hi all, recently set up a new 60l Aquaart Aquarium (very pleased, goo value for money).

Washed everythign extreemly throroughly and the water has been treeated and run through the tank bare for three days.

Now, I'm just waiting for the haze to clear after the tank was set up (after the water was removed/replaced).

Just wondering if there is anything I can do :p It has a vermuculite base, 3mm - 2m gravel on top, and aquarium sand on top of that, some lovely bog wood, and the nicely sized filter provided.

Any tips? Cheers :> Never had a tank be quite so misty for more than a few hours.

There are these tablets by a brand named JUNGLE. You throw a tablet in the water and it dissolves. It helps remove cloudy water. They work great. I use them all the time. Go to your local pet store and ask them about it. I'm sure they will know what your talking about.

Do small water changes for a couple days 10-20% and add some water clarifier, this will clump the particles together to allow the filters to get them and some will drop to the bottom of the tank so do a vacuum after a couple days. Sand can cloud for a couple days even if rinsed very good.

It should clear in less than 24 hours.

Oh and be carefull with magnetic driven filters the sand will get into there and eat them up, always let the sand settle before the filters are turned on.

If the water is cloudy immediately, or within an hour or two of filling the tank, it's probably due to insufficiently washed gravel. Drain the tank and rinse the gravel until the water runs clear. That should resolve the problem. If washing the gravel doesn't solve the problem, the next most likely cause of cloudy water in a newly filled tank is a high level of dissolved constituents such as phosphates, silicates, or heavy metals. If you test the water, you'll no doubt find the pH is high (alkaline).
In these cases, treating the water with conditioners will often resolve the problem. Another option, that has many benefits beyond resolving cloudy water, is to use RO (Reverse Osmosis) water. Your local fish shop may sell it, or sell units capable of making RO water.Often cloudy water doesn't appear the instant an aquarium is set up. Instead it appears days, weeks, or even months later. In these cases the cause is usually due to bacterial bloom. As the new aquarium goes through the initial break in cycle, it is not unusual for the water to become cloudy, or at least a little hazy. It will take several weeks to several months to establish bacterial colonies that are able to clear wastes from the water. Over time that cloudiness will resolve itself.

The pellets are much more effective. It clears water and dissolves in what is just seconds.

Yes cut and paste is it. I never said i knew it all. And i dont think u did either. Obviously youve had to read it somewhere in order to make a post about it right? Or did all your vast knowledge of fish breeding and caring just suddenly pop up in your mind? didnt think so. Either someone told u or u read it. I read it and posted it. Back on topic please.

There you go again. Everytime someone posts you have to investigate it. At least it is accurate. Get a life and stop being a child and grown up.
Everytime I make a post or (MR.goodright) you and your friend have something to say about it and start drama in. What is the deal with that. We can't base outr opinions. I'm sorry but that is what forums are for. Trying to help people out with advice...and you are not doing that. Stop stalking, stick to posts and grow UP! Mods will deal with you . Thank the lord when they do!
:thanks:

Back to topic: I hope the tablets work well for your tank.
