Hey guys, I originally bought a fist sized colony of Anthelia and eventually it grew to be about the size of a basketball and take over 3 rocks. I eventually got fed up and removed most of it to concentrate it on one rock. Unfortunately, Anthelia can grow back from the smallest amount of base left, and that has happened. I want to put other corals there, such as my new frogspawn, but can't seem to get it off. The younger polyps are even harder to get off! I tried tweezers but it doesn't really work. I'm considering next water change to get a very rigid toothbrush and just grind it down to nothing, polyps and all, and syphoning it out. But before I do that, does anyone know a better method? Other than torching, because I cannot take the rock out without disturbing other corals.

I've seen a few different varieties, do you have any pics? If you are just trying to get rid of the stuff I would be willing to take some....I would pay for shipping.

Well frogspawn is pretty strong stinger. I would place the frog by the anthelia and let the frog sting it to push it back... Anthelia is a fast grower it can be a pain in the butt. I have some pink hairys that are cutting off light to my xenia...

Haha, well, I may be able to get some... What I'm removing is smaller polyps that grew back from the remains of the beastly ones I pulled out. My colony of full grown is confined to one rock, so it doesn't take over half the tank like it did at one point.

I tried using tweezers, but it didn't really work. It grows by making "runners" that new polyps grow out of. Unfortunately, these are extremely hard to remove and they can grow back as long as there's still some left. In fact, i ripped a polyp in half and a new one grew out of the top of it. So as you can see, these are determined to live, but I want them to DIE!
