I ‘bought’ some fish stuff on e-bay last night; I received an email to say I needed to pay for it; I did so…when I checked back at the auction it says “relisted item” or “similar items have been relisted” – I’m aware the seller will more than likely have more than one of the item….however I haven’t received an email to say that the payment has been received by them; I did email them last night asking about postage and I got a reply this morning and I replied quickly afterwards asking about it; and I’ve not heard since.

The seller has 99.8% positive reviews; I’m just a little worried as I’ve only ever bought “buy now” items.

I’ll leave it until tomorrow and re-contact the seller if need be but has anyone else had the same thing; and if so what happened?

I probably should have posted this in the general chat section; so mods if you think it needs to be moved there then please do :)

anything at all and they
side had been dispatched

all you can go on is a good positive review % and a bit of hope in humanity, but that doesn't often get you far

*touches wood* I've not had a bad experience with e-bay yet. But then I dont generally buy expensive things, or rare things via e-bay. We'll see if they arrive :); I've no reason to doubt them really; since they are a shop which also sells via ebay. I was just a little worried when it said re-listed; but I'm sure they have more than one of the snails for sale.

Glad your worry sorted itself out, I've just had my own error sorted out after accidentally ordering the "large" sized pellets of Hikari Cichlid Gold, instead of the "baby" form. Seller replied while I was at work, organised transaction cancellation and now I've just ordered the right stuff!

This is now common practice, You have the option to relist an item as a Seller. And when someone who is wanting to buy clicks on the item, just next to where it says how many are available. It now says how many sold, so that you can guage the popularity of them item.

Don't rely on the percentage of good comments as an accurate description of whether they are good or not. The entire system is stupid for that now, sellers will just petition an eBay moderator to remove it and claim they weren't in the wrong.

I ordered a headlight for my ford focus specifically asking for nearside, I left it in the order message and I phoned up and told him. Anyway surprise surprise it was offside and he said fine I'll swap it so I thought fair enough... next day I get a card saying I wasn't in for it to be picked up! I phoned him up and he said he wasn't going to rearrange a delivery as it costs him each time he calls someone out so I thought fine I'll sort this out... I phone up the company and they are more than happy to send out a collection I ask them about a fee and they said no, only if the parcel is shipped is any fee incurred even if they request it to be picked up 3 times and it fails every time no fee unless its shipped.

I phone the guy up and tell him I've rearranged it to be picked up, I ask him about why he lied to me and he gives me an mouthful down the blower. A week later I get my light... only now the light isn't a genuine ford headlight it's a cheap Taiwanese copy headlight I can complain (via phone stupidly) and he tells me to go do one.

I think fine... I'll give him a negative rating for this... I give it to him and he within seconds phones me up and shouts down the phone at me then he goes and responds to the comment saying "ignore this idiot he is lying", he speaks to an eBay moderator they ask me a few questions and then came out with "You got the item in the end didn't you?" even though it wasn't the specific one I was told it was not fair for me to damage his reputation even though he supplied me with the goods... He advertised genuine and sold me a copy!!

I got told off and had my negative feedback removed from his profile!

Madness eh...

Anyway, Those asian orders usually give you free international postage and it does make you wonder why to get 1/3 of the way around the world it is free but for me to send a parcel to a neighbour costs £5+. It's usually because you don't get the item, whether they send it or not. Has happened to me a few times, though because it was so cheap and directly from my debit card rather than paypal it felt like it was more hassle than it was worth.

See I would have been ok if that were the case as I checked the re-listing and it didn't say anything like that. Never mind.

I’ve bought a few lots of cheap asian plants for my aquarium, purely as they were super cheap in comparison to what I can get in the shops. I ordered one and then I read the comments; almost half said they didn’t arrive…so I wasn’t holding out much hope…mine arrived and have been healthy; in fact I think it was java fern and it’s propagating like mad in my tanks . I also ordered a turtle dock from America; turtle dock + postage = less than buying one out right in a shop right next to home; and then they wonder why people don’t buy it!

I am looking at getting a fish tank from e-bay as well; purely as I’m limited on size and there only seems to be one or two that will fit my size requirements. The shops next to me don’t sell the tanks either; I can get a tank which is 5 litres bigger from a shop next to mine but it doesn’t come with a light and clip on lights are fairly expensive from what I’ve seen; yet I can buy a tank with a light online and buy a heater and pay postage and still save £10. There have been some of the tanks on the classifieds but they are all collection only  and for the same price I can get a new one from e-bay…
