Relatively new fish keeper

Hi there, only been keepin tropical for around 2 years. Never had any issues other than the odd sick fish from a new shop. Recently started a planted scape and a few of all plants are thriving, but some grasses have started to turn in parts dark brown but are still very much alive? Is this an algae problem as it’s only effecting the grass?

nice! i think you probably have more experience than me i only kept tropicals for 6 months but any puctures? is it completely brown? or are there transparent brown splotches kinda fading in and the leaf itself is still colorful? what are your fish? if it is really totally brown try adding a root tab it may work.

1 of my platys had a load of fry aswel that somehow more than 20 survived. Every chance this is why the change in the plants but have since got homes for them

Looks like some pesky algae to me it is fine better if removed

They looked like hair algae to me.

You may have to use a brush to remove them.
Or try keeping some Algae eaters.

hair algae is too hard for most algae eaters i have heard

try using nerite snails. they look cool and make strange patterns on algae

What is your light wattage?
I guess one method is to reduce the light brightness. The light brightness affect the algae the most.

I have a 2ft, 6W LED light. The algae is very minimal and I also have a Pleco and shrimps in the tank.
But my plants are Java Moss and Anacharis Elodea(low light requirements).
I turned on the light for 9 hours per day.

Another of my tank has a 16W LED light but I reduce the light to the lowest.( 10 steps).
It has more algae.

Also, add some fast growing plants such as Anacharis and Hornworts to compete with the algae. These plants will remove the nutrients in the water and compete with the algae.
