Allright lads =)

I have just begun the process of setting up a Juwel Rio 180. I have also come up with a stocking list, and for the 1st time, I have chosen a pleco for the tank.

I was browsing online and I spotted the Snowball Pleco; apart from the Zebra Pleco it is by far the most beautiful out of a long list available (in my opinion anyway).

I have a few questions though:

1 - is it aggressive towards any particular species of fish?
2 - will it destroy live plants?
3 - do plecos (in general) bite? I have a habit of feeding my fish by hand (with all proper precautions taken eg. washing hands thoroughly before in water etc) and I know they have teeth........

Thanks for your time!

1. I don't think so, some species are aggressive with similar plecos though.

2. If they are well-fed they shouldn't do.

3. They may suck your hand gently, don't bite though. But you shouldn't really put your hands into the aquarium unless necessary (maintenance...), especially after washing them with soap or anything anti-bacterial.

they will only tend to be aggresive if another plec try to get in his cave hiding hole they wont go out of there way to fight with any other fish

when you say snow ball do you refer to the LDA033? if so then it may eat the plants they are An omnivorous grazer of biofilm. Shows a fondness for sweet potato and algae wafers, courgette

also with reagard to feeding out of your hand i dont think you will get a plec to feed out of your hand they are very shy you will be lucky to see it during the day, i currently breed L333, L134, L411, LDA01, super reds and L144 and all i normally see if the tails hanging out of there caves lol except for the L144 and super reds but there still shy

Its a L142 Pleco; thats all I know =/

Will they eat bloodworms +/or catfish pellets? If not then I can easily get some lettuce to feed him =)

I ALWAYS thoroughly wash my hands in cold water, before and after putting my hands in the tank. None of my fish in my 50ltr are stressed or dead, so it musnt be all that bad =)

Thanks for the replies =)
