Im planning on a 55 gallon saltwater tank, and I want to add a refugium. Maybe this model of refugium. My first question is how does this reduce algae in the main aquarium? My second is can I mix some live sand with some of this mineral mud in the refugium, or does it have to be a one type of subtrate only? 3rd is will the food/pests grow if there is no light over it? How long does it take for them to grow? And how do you get them out of the refugium into the main aquarium?
