Every progammer I have met who uses Linux pronounces it Line-ux. And these range from small time domestic contributors, to those who programme the bank severs running on it. Though I fear this would be a how do you pronounce "Bath" question...

Most other people refer to it as "I hate microsoft as it is just so inept".

Then why does Linus Torvalds pronounce it "lin-ux"

:p

If we are having the "bath" discussion, it should actually be pronounced "Ba-thay" as that is supposed to be how the word was first pronounced, although romans didn't actually have such a word, they reffered to "baths" as balnae, or a bath house, "balneum".

Because he wants to? Because he is foreign and as such has a completely different accent and pronunciation to the English would? If you pronounce it like that to a linux engineer in the City they will laugh at you. Simple as.

Citroen should be pronounced Cit-ro-en, does anybody? No. We are in England, not France, so we don't care if we pronounce the name of a car manufacturer sound the same as a citric fruit. If someone asks you how it is pronounced you say cit-ron.

On another note, the earliest similar name for Bath I can find is Baðan or Baðon meaning "at the baths" which is how the Anglo-Saxons referred to the city. It turns out the Romans called the city Aquae Sulis. Strange for one being so picky on language you missed the capital B there Ben and got a city confused with a bath.

;)

Andywg I've pretty much stopped giving a crap about any posts you make because you do seem to have some weird attitude problem...
