Reef Problems

I have a 50 gallon acrylic reef tank. With many small problems. #1 how do you get the encrusting red algae off the front of an acrylic tank without scratching it? I've lconquered the green or that red carpet like algae, but have been having not much luck with mushrooms and some of what are supposed to be the easier polyps would the addition of more lighting help...any help would be Great ...

Cant help you with the acrylic problems, but stronger {and the addition of actinic} lighting would be greatly appreciated by your mushrooms, but in the meantime, maybe move them up closer to the light and put them on the tallest piece of live rock.
