we've quite a good supply of meds for the FW tanks, like to keep stuff in so it's there when we need it.

not got anything for SW though, what meds do you all keep in your cupboard and what would you recommend getting?

Only one i have is melafix and primafix, as its able to be used in reef tanks due to the natural ingredients. However copper is a good one to have but you need a quarantine tank for that, so if you dont no point wasting your money :fun:

Garlic. Best treatment is prevention and good selection policies IMO :D

you know i've heard all sorts about using garlic and never tried it.

how do you use it?

They are proven safe even with anenomes, however it does annoy them and corals wont come out also inverts tend to slow down a bit. But ive dont it once, and it was ok.

As for the garlic well you can buy a bottle called garlic guard which made by seachem, its garlic in a liquid form and all you do is marinade it over the fishs frozen food for 10 mins then feed. Then supposedly, which i believe that parasites are put off by the smell and dont attack the fish but also improves the fishes immune system to prevent whitespot etc.

You dont need to use garlic guard, you can use any garlic extract available at the supermarket ;). As mentioned though, just soak food in it 10min prior to feeding. The garlic seems to help bolster the immune system of fish to allow them to fix things up themselves.

Also, just an FYI for anyone who wants to use Melafix in their tank... It will cause your skimmer to go haywire and spew an uncontrollable amount of bubbles out of it. Best to turn it off ;)
