Red Torpedo Barb

Just a quick question, Will the RED TORPEDO BARB be ok woth tiger as they are from the same family. I've always like them and now my LFS has taken delivery of this stunning fish.

The Tiger barbs may do a little fin nipping but the torpedo barbs are much faster and get a lot bigger so shouldn't come to any real harm. If you increased your tiger shoal to 8, they would almost certainly be too busy with each other.

Barbus denisonii is a shoaling fish that likes a lot of swimming space, they also are 150mm/6" fish. I don't think your tank is suitable for a group of them.

Cheers for the replies. i was just thinking of differents ideas for my big tank as its looking abit empty and wanted abit of colour in the tank. If you guys can suggest anything else?

Would Jack dempsey's be ok.

Nandopsis octofasciatum, Jack Dempsey, is named for a boxer from the 1920's somewhat imfamous for his aggression. The fish is likewise, very aggressive. It is territorial and fights with it's own kind. It also grows to around 250mm/10" and is carnivorous, eating other fish, worms, shrimps, whatever it can get really.

I am not a cichlid expert, you will find the folk in New World Cichlids will be able to give you much more info on them. Whilst not really liking cichlids, a good male of this species is quite attractive.

just to let you know that i have two red line torpedo barbs in with my tiger barbs and they are ok like said earlier they are a lot faster than tigers i would guess that if you have already got 5 tigers you probably wouldn't need to increase them either as you will probably notice they will be occupying themselves anyway.

i've got rid of the tigers now, just looking for something else to go in the tank.
