So I got this sucker like 2 or 3 days ago and he just hides and swims around on the bottom, pretty cool. Hes a baby so its still small. I heard it can grow up to like 7 inches so i reallyt would like that to happen. Whenever i feed i notice that the fish doesnt get much... actually doensnt get any food. I've made sure a flake goes near him but he still doesnt eat it...So im pretty worried that he wont eat and he'll die. So what can i do for him to eat?

He probably just needs time to settle in, a lot of fish are like this when introduced to a new tank. Red tailed black sharks spend most of their time near the bottom so try some sinking pellets. Mine eats a combination of flake and catfish pellets and is very happy and healthy.

They do reach 6-7 inches, mine is fully grown at around 6 inches.

Agree that he's just settling in. After he get's used to his surroundings, you'll be wishing that he would let the other fish get something to eat!

29 gallons might be pushing it, but depends on the dimensions of the tank...

i have a rainbow shark which i belive is similar to RTBS except they are supposedly less agressive. mine eats frozen brine shrimp and frozen bloodworms, and bottom feeder pellets. i havent tried algea wafers yet and mine doesnt like flakes or granuals. ive herd that they like zucinini, cucumber, and lettuce(romain only, iceburg is bad) but mine wont touch it.

Red tails, and rainbow and albino rainbow are all basically the same fish...Yes, a little romain is good, but they tend to be nocturnal and feel safer feeding at night, much like a cory cat.

After they pick a territory in the tank, they can become quite aggressive...especialy against their own kind....I know this from experience, cuz I love red tailed sharks....

They do get to be about 6-7 inches at extreme old age but youll need large tank of 50 gals or more...Black sharks are in the same family, but are much more aggressive and grow much faster...Reaching a size of almost 2 feet...I raised a pleco and a black shark in the same tank as a race...both hit about 20" in 2 years...lol
