Red Spots In The Eyes Of My Danio

Hello all,

I have just noticed that one of my Zebra Danios has developed blood-red spots in its eyes. I have recently added 2 dwarf gourmis and a filter shrimp to the 85l tank which is shared with 6 bronze Cory's.

Is this a common infection and if so how should it be treated? Are the other fish in the tank in danger?

It is plausible that these spots have always been there and I am just being paranoid, however if it is a danger to the other fish then I would like to know.

Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Do the eyes look like they have pools of blood.
Tiny red spots can be septicemia.

Red spots on skin can be caused by:
Regarding the small red dot, small pinprick like haemorrhages (called petechiae) can be due to a local lesion, a generalised septicaemia or toxaemia caused by acute viral and bacterial infections.

Although I do not have my own liquid test kit I had my water tested yesterday at my local tropical fish store where my ammonia read as 0 and my nitrate and nitrite were"ideal".

The danio in question however was used to cycle the tank (before you all chastise me for doing a fish-in cycle and had to find a home for my existing corys and danios), which I imagine could have lead to some form of ammonia poisoning.

I cannot get a clear view of the danio in question as the little critter is so fast, but its gills also look a little redder than usual.

If it is either of the ailments you suggested then what steps do I need to take to help the fish?

When did the cycle end.
Inflamed gills can be many things from bacterial gill rot, flukes, bad water quality.

First and foremost thank you for the help, it is hugely appreciated.

The cycle finished around 15-20 days ago, new fish were added 4 days ago (2 dwarf Gourami and 1 filter shrimp)

There are few other symptons of septicimia as the fish is still full of energy, has a good apitite. The website suggests seeking vetinary assistance, which to be quite honest I cannot afford in my current situation. Are there any fish store meds I can try? Also I couldnt determine from the above site whether this is contagious, so a bit of help on this front would be greatly appreciated.

Best to keep doing water changes.
Best to issolate sick fish as the bacteria from the fish can enter the tank.
Septicemia very hard to cure once its advanced.
There is a med but its only good on mild strains of bacteria, its called anti internal bacteria med by interpet.
