we have got some of these guys in at work and im thinking about getting one to grow out for a while
ive allways wanted a snakehead and tomorrow im returning my 3 red bellies so i will have a empty 48x18x18
i know how big they get but they are only 3" and i wont have a problem rehoming it

Sweet, enjoy it!
If you like it, why not get a smaller sp. to keep permenently?
Im just holding a Inle snakehead for the holidays, its gonna be fun!

Dont do it is my advise, Channa microplets is the meanest nastiest most savage fish that ever swam in freshwater, they grow fast and have the jaws to bite other fish in half for fun, there is no other fish that is safe to be kept with them.

There are loads of smaller and slightly less mean snakeheads to choose from if you really want to ad one to your community, though all snakeheads have the possibilty of turning nasty one day and tearing your tank to bits, personally i only advise species tanks for anything other than the dwarf species.

i have a better idea
im gonna grow some siamese tigers and a tigrinum in the 48x18x18 to then go in my big tank
i still want a snake head so maybe i will get a dwarf for my 24x12x12 instead
are there many dwarf snakeheads to choose from?

Channa Bleheri aka Rainbow Snakeheads

or channa gachua like mine and CFCs

Channa gachua and Channa bleheri are the most commonly found dwarf species but there are quite a few other species appearing in the trade recently including the beautiful assam blue and fluro green snakeheads that Wildwoods have in stock.

i had 3 of thease once buy the end of 6 months i had 1 big fat one and the other 2 were missing

they look cute when small but dam ugly and scary looking once they get to 20inch

tigers much better idear :good:

Channa harcourtbutlerii (the Inle snakehead) is a great little charecter. It is one of the smallest Channa, fully grown at 5".
Get a stunning steel blue when adult, well recomended.
If you can find one that is...

or not. :( just found this: http://fisc.er.usgs.gov/Snakehead_circ_1251/index.html

looks like customs might have better training/resources than Petsmart.

Ah! This is why I hate living here sometime... no cool fish! Especially here in Florida... it seems like every cool, large tropical fish is banned, because it has a possiblity of surviving in our waters... sigh.
