I was advised against them. I don't think they're up to much. Check out the TMC V2 range, or Deltec skimmers.

LOL not worth the box it came in huh, they make it seem so good.

My 2 friends have that protein skimmer and its the one I got. (My tank hasn't been started yet) But theirs seem to work great... Looks as if it removes plenty of gunk from the water. But I'm a SW noob... Maybe I'll check some others out and return mine.

EDIT: I don't want to ninja this post, but I live in the US and I like the TMC V2 Skimmers but their site only ships to UK. Any ideas about how to get one in U.S. I'm gonna go search the web real quick and repost if I find anythign...

Coralife Superskimmers and AquaC Remoras are the smaller hang-ons of choice in the states. If you have room in-sump, go for an ASM and/or Euroreef. They're bigger but probably the best commercially available skimmer around these parts.
