Hi everyone, I want to try out a marine tank and have had trouble deciding what I should I get, should I get a 2 foot tank and stand for 100 bucks second hand and start from scratch turning that into a marine? Or Should I flop out the money and buy a Red Sea Max?

These tanks are suppose to have everything you need minus live stock. Has anyone bought or heard good or bad things about this tank? It is 130 litres im not to sure. I was also wondering if this tank is good for begginers in marine or not.

Also, what type of filter does this tank use? Is it noisy or not?, ok I now know that I am bugging you people lol, but here is another question.

In a 130litre marine tank, could someone please post the names of fish that will fit in there, so that way i can at least google them and get some images.

Thanks a lot guys even if some of you just answer one of my 21 questions  it would be great.

Cheers, Rob

Its meant to be a very good all-in-one but its very expensive. Get it if you really like the looks. Start from scratch if you want to save some money. Get the biggest tank you can afford/fit.

This is a common question you have here Rob. Unfortunately there's no real answer. My suggestion to you is, if you like playing with hardware, tinkering, DIY, and getting your hand's dirty so to speak, go with a home made option. If you're the kind of person for whom hardware setup immediately creates dreams/visions of the emergency room, then buy the Red Sea :)

One addition to that... If you are not thinking about having corals ever, don't bother with the Redsea, its hardware is geared towards reefkeeping. If you just want a fish only or fish only with live rock, go ahead and get a standard tank.

As for fish, I'd suggest visiting liveaquaria.com and looking through their "nano" fish section, that'll start you off with ideas :)
