So I decided to turn on my skimmer and at first it seems to be working really well. But the foam in the collection cup was comin' on strong and when I saw it overflowing a bit i decided to lower the flow. Now the foam doesn't even make it up to the collection cup. And I tried raising the flow back up and it still doesn't make it there. I decided to find the instructions and see what i'm supposed to do and it says:
"With the Flow Regulator set to maximum the air bubbles will flow under the Air Return Skirt to the Outer Tube. Adjust the Flow Regulator so that the air/water mixture is approx. halfway down the middle tube. Close the Air Adjuster Screw slightly to lower the air/water mixture until it reaches the bottom of the Air Return Skirt without bubbles passing to the Outer Tube."

What does "halfway down the middle tube" mean? When I turn the flow down, bubbles still flow all the way up, that's what they do...they're bubbles

You want the foam to flow into the collection cup. Don't turn it down to the point that the foam stops reaching the cup. The foam contains the waste that is being removed. Once in the collection cup it returns to a nasty liquid form. Just make sure the liquid does not overflow when the cup gets full.

Sometimes the first day or two the skimmer will put out quite a bit. This is because you have been running without it (as you mentioned in the other thread)and the material it removes has built up a bit. It will slow down its output as soon as it gets caught up.

Keep an eye on the cup if it is filling up quickly and keep emptying it. You may have to turn it off or down a bit overnight if you think it will overflow while you are asleep. Mine settled in after 48 hours or so. After that you wont have to empty it very often at all. (Once every couple weeks or so)

well it took a minute, but with it on High again the foam is making its way to the collection cup. But the lid looks pretty fragile up there and I see a little foam making it out the holes in the lid. I don't know if I should turn it down though.
