Just got 3 red line torpedo barbs today (otherwise known as rose line barbs) and they are around 2-3 cm at the moment. Apparently when fully grown they can get up to 6 inches long. Does anyone know how long it will take for them to grow to this size? x :)

I'm after a shoal of six of these to finish off my display tank. I asked exactly the same question in the LFS and they don't take long to max out, grow quite quickly. Six months tops I would say.

Ideally should be in a larger shoal (6 or more really). Do you plan to get more?

They are probably my favourite fish and can't wait to stock mine.

Try to get some pics up when you can.

I might do but they seem fine and my LFS told me they should be fine as long as they are kept in groups of more than 2 but i probably will get more cause they are really nice. In the shop i got them from they also have 5 year old ones that are really bright so im really glad they get fully grown quickly. Thanks!

The other thing to look at is your tank size, these are 6"+ fish and very active, you should ideally have 6 or more and a largish tank. Id say anything under 30gall is too small.
