I've recently added this shark to my 90g with frontosa, clownloaches, silver shark and cigar sharks, oh and George the common plec of course. This shark was terrorising my daughter's tank in which she has recently swapped to dwarf cichlids. Now the cigar sharks and silver shark are about 5 inches and the red-finned is about 3 inches but she's scaring the bigger sharks and they're not eating. Does anyone think she'll settle or should I rehome her?

Red finned sharks don't like any other fish that resembles their own kind and won't tolerate them, so putting the fish in a tank with other sharks will only make it very terotorial and until you find it a tank with no sharks or shark-look a likes, i doubt it will settle down.

Aha! Thanks, mmm, that's a choice between in withe the DP....I think not, perhaps guppys?? Or back to the lfs. I will think on and then try and catch her

Well I caught her!! She's now in a 45g with 2" clownloaches, madagascan rainbowfish, a pair of peacock cichlids, a pair of BNs and corys. Seems happier so far.

clown loaches are a no go I would think. The dwarf puffers are a possibility but You could wake up one day and find a floating rainbow shark. Even if they get along for months. The tank you've got him in is probably going to be ok. I have 3 rainbow sharks in a 55 at the size you describe. They fought and chased like mad until one of them died. Oddly now they are seen swimming together and playing. Very little to no aggression. It may sound crazy but I think they need to be in odd numbers. This may be why there is less aggression now. The two clown loaches look similair to the rainbow shark but because the total number is 3 (similair looking) fish aggression is decreased.

So far so good. Checked this morning and the 3 clown loaches seem to be swimming around with rfbs. All occupant in the tank seem happy and relaxed and are eating normally. Phew!! :)

Clown Loaches mix very well with RTBSs IME. Mine spend most of their time following the RTBS around.

Edit:

Sorry, just re-read and you said red finned, not red tailed, so it's a rainbow shark, which I have no experience with I'm afraid. :dunno:
