ok I'm 99.9% certain that i'm going to stick to a species tank with my 2 new red-eye puffers (20g), but just a v quick question to see what peoples opinions would be - how do you think they would get on with a single, similarly aggressive fish like a convict cichlid? are they likely to take chunks out of each other/kill each other, or just to steer out of each others way? I'm guessing its probably a bad idea, but just wanted to see what peoples thoughts would be. The reason i ask is that the lfs has juvenile convicts approaching 3/4" for 40p each :D

The convicts would be killed and eaten.

If the convicts did manage to bite the puffers, they may die from tetradotoxin poisoning as freshwater puffers have the toxin in the skin rather than in the organs like marine puffers.

ok, idea well and truly forgotten then!! cheers! now where can i get hold of a 30g tank for a couple of convicts....
