went to a lfs...never been to this particular one and they had this really cool oyster or clam or something to that effect. it was red and had tentacle type limbs. it also had a flashing light on its outer rim near the shell looked like electricity and was bluish. looked rare but it was priced at only 15 dollars so prolly not so rare. i'd like to doo some reading on this before i buy it, but i don't know what it is called so i need at least a name to search with. i think they called it a red electric clam or maybe oyster but i have found nothing searching with those names. who knows what this is.
much appreciated.

Electric Scallop :good:. Actually a very difficult specemin to keep alive because it requires frequent feeding of phyoplankton/cyclopeeze/rotifers/etc.

I'm not sure if this is true for electric scallops, but I've heard that some will usually try and hide in dark nooks and crannys of the tank, and that you really don't see them often. Also, I've heard they can shoot across a tank, knocking things over.

Both correct

Yes. It is rather unfortunate, as they really are amazing animals.

also these need to be target fed to survive properly marine snow or cyclopese or the like is a good bet :)

do you think that would be ok kept with sea horses? i hear they both like placid non agressive species in with them, i have an idea which im mulling over and i would love to keep 2 of these in a tank possibly in a tank with a couple of sea horses, if not scrap the horses ill just have two of these!

No, they cannot go in with seahorses. Sorry. Not because of aggression or anything, but I've seen pretty distressing pictures of seahorses with their tails caught in clams, scallops, etc.

good point didnt think of that! ah well was just an idea as they both have similar tank requirments, ie lighting, flow rate etc, ill just stick too a pair of leccy scallops :)
