Red Devil Information Wanted

hi, i have a red devil, yellowish pinkish and about 5-6 inch long, can anyone tell me at what size/age they develop he lump on their head, an is it possible to sex?

they are not extremely fast growing, but at about 7 or 8 inches it should start showing its nuchal hump, that is males will. also males are longer in length and much more powerfully built. at a younger age though on some red devils, i have noticed, that you can make out the nuchal hump if you look carefully

as the red devil matures the more agreesive it will become. yours looks to be a male, but i could be wrong.

ive seen 8" females with humps bigger then that, but the truth is some carry genes for a larger hump than others,
i think it could be either male or female , its a really nice RD though (y)

yea, but that one is only 5" long, thats a nice size hump for that size of fish.

when my male was 8" it had a nice size hump on it, but stupid me stopped photographing it and when i sold it had no photos to remember it by.

but anyways i will show badboy a few photos of him very very very young and 2" and 4":

this is him a week after being in my tank, 2.5"

him at about 3.5" or 4"

to give him a big growth spurt feed him LIVE night crawlers. i fed mine one a day until he was 6", then gave him two a day. but never stop feeding him pellets
