I was in my local madien head today with my girlfriend and she saw some red devil angle fish and pointed them out. I have never seen these before and was wondering if anybody knew minimum size tank for them etc as she has just got a 80 litre tank and was wanting 2 of them. Would this be too small? Any help would be great cheers :good:

anybody??

Did they look like this?

More commonly known as Red Shoulder Scalare angelfish but sometimes called Red Devils Angelfish
They are just a wild colour variant of your common Angelfish and therefore grow to the same size.

40G is required for two of these with a tank height of at least 18"

i think they looked like that. the tank is 15 tall but as i say only 80 liters. are there any other kind of angle fish that dont grow as big that could live in a smaller tank cheers

Good and bad information in that post. Yes, they are just a common angelfish, just different color. But, you don't need a minimum of 40 gallons for 2 angelfish. I have a breeding pair of angels in a 20g flat hexagon ( 18 inches tall BTW ). You also don't keep angels in pairs unless they are a breeding pair. Because angels, just like any other cichlid, will beat the crap out of each other, you would want a group of at least 4 .
