Hello all,

Can anybody out there recommend a plant or plant types that these critters wont hack to bits and decimate?

Regards!

The simplist ideas are always the best!! Makes sense that does!!

Cheers!

all i can say is they dont go in planted tanks. i had 2 in my sig tank and they seemed to enjoy testing their pincers on the stems. i'd wake up in the morning to utter devestation, they'd chop up 8-10 stems a night. in a week or so the plants were all binned and i had to start again.

loose the crabs or go with floating plants, sorry.

Generally plants are a bad idea, however, I have a electric blue and he hasnt touched the Val or Anubius nana I've put in with him.
But, he has dug up the sag and pygmy chain I planted in the past, so after several replants I gave up on those two.
I'm not sure why she hasnt bothered the Val and the Anubius though.

vals too tough (at the base) and anubias stems are quite tough as well. they may pinch off the new anubias leaves though. ever found a single anubias leaf floating around the tank? they dont fall off of their own accord

oh yea, I've found a few, but considering what she did to the pygmy chain and sag a few leaves choped off here and there doesnt hurt.
All the plants I have put in the cray tank are "extra's", ones that I've pruned or thinned out of other tanks, so the fact I lose a bit here and there doesnt bother me.
I wouldnt put in a plant that I had just purchased though. :X

Speakin of purchases, I'm acclimating my flower shrimp as I type. :X

do these crabs attack plecs or any other bottom fish??

Well, they wont "attack" them, but they will catch them and proceed to eat them, what's left they will bury and eat later. :/
