Hi guys, after the red cherry shrimp shed, do you take the shell out or do they eat it?

I can't remember what I read and I can't find it again

mine have lost alot of their colour and ive only ever seen 3 since i got them (originally bought 6)

Thanx im thinking about getting some more about 6?
They are getting the cherry red colour back and 2 always seem to be about.
Currently have 2 live plants and java moss that im getting established, thinking about getting more plants too.
