Fish Fanatic
I have a fully cycled 30G tank with several bronchis splendens (emerald catfish) and several Ottos... and I have noticed recently that their bellies look awfully pink, or red. In addition, the bronchis surface *a lot* for oxygen and swim willy nilly all over the tank like madmen. My question is: is this normal or should I be worried?
Tank conditions: KH 8, PH 7.4, Nitrites 0, Ammonia 0.
Fish: 3 Emerald Catfish, several ottos, several zebra danios.
I should add that there are many plants in this tank as well, and I recently added a new aqualight (so it could just be the lighting!) and a new DIY co2. The co2 has been up for maybe a week and is still not really dialed in--the levels are still considered "low," and this is partially becasue I am running an airstone almost all the time out of concern for the bronchis (who keep go to the surface a lot for oxygen).
So... is it safe to take the airstone out and let my co2 do its thing? Or are these all signs of stressed out fish?
