Morning all, been a while since I've been on but been a busy man with my new job :).

I'm looking for advice on a new filter. I currently have one of the tetratec copies that are sold at all pond solutions. Now it's rated at 1200 l/ph and don't get me wrong the water is really clear but it dosnt really create much water circulation so there is still alot of debris on the substrate.

Couple that with the fact it's started to get really noisy just recently and I think it's time to get a new filter.

Has anybody got any suggestions for me? The tank is 270l
Stocking is
2x angel fish
2x red rainbow fish
12x black neon terra
3x blue neon tetra
3x black phantom tetra
1x male Bolivian ram
1x common plec

I no I need to stock up on something's but don't want to untill I have a much more powerful filter. Me and the Mrs are moving into are own place in August so I want to get a 6x2x2 so if I can use the new filter on there that would be a bonus . Thanks guys

I just bought a sunsun filter off ebay after alot of research. I was very sceptical but thought it was worth the risk. I got the 1000 lph model but I should think you'll need the 2000. I'd read that they were really good for the money and very quiet. Well, they're definately quiet. I also changed the media slightly. Built in u/v lamp on the larger size one also. Well worth a punt for £60.

Yeah that's the one I have now except I think it's the 1200 l/ph might be the 1000 l/ph though don't get me wrong it's doing a good job just not creating alot of water circulation

Get a tetratec ex1200 well worth the money!

I should think on a 6x2x2 with a common plec in there as well you would need 2 filters, so maybe start hunting on eBay for some bargain tetratec 1200s, which everyone seems to worship on here ;)

There was one near me that sold for £1.52 a while ago, sold as broken and for spares only. By the sounds of it it just needed a seal replacing, I wish I'd bought it!

Aps don't make a 1200 external. If you're happy with them then go for the 2000.

Tetratecs are far better quality though. A different league.
