Hi,

Has anyone had any experience with the Realux HOT5 lights being sold on AE?

The only off-putting thing about these is the fact that they are non re-chargeable and that you have to dispose of them once they fail. Bit pricey if your light fails after a couple of weeks

Mine have just been despatched according to the AE email I received.

I asked Richard about them being no rechargable and he said that he has been using his set for 2 years and they are still OK.

I saved the e-mail incase he was lying. lol (which I am pretty sure he wasn't as he is quite good)

Therefore I cannot review them until they arrive later this week.

perfect length for me though at 29" (my tank is 30½ inches)

Think I will order a pair of 29"'s as well. Might go for one of each of the lights offered on AE. Intend to have the spectrum grow at the back and the daylight at the front in addition to the current T5's in the hood.

Which ones did you get Andy?

Samo Samo. Copycat. lol

I will have mine t'other way round though (experience with Orig Tropical and Freshwater tells me looks better) but may change after experimenting

Just fitted the HO T5s.

I am a hater of pink lamps and guess what.

You're wrong. It actually looks good.

I have the pink just front of centre and the daylight at the back.

When the daylight comes on it does cancel the pink hue but even with just the pink light (which wil be on the first 4 hours and last 4 hours on its own) it looks quite nice.

Reccomended buy from someone whos changed from Hagen to Arcadia to Interpet to HOT5 in less than a year and I rate them as follows (remember new anything always seems better. lol:
Pink:
1 HoT5 Spectrum Grow
2 Interpet Tri-Plus
3 Hagen Aqua Glo
99 Arcadia Original Tropical

Daylight
1 Arcadia Freshwater
2 HoT5 Daylight
3 Interpet DaylightPlus
99 Hagen Sun Glo

(99 signifies what a waste of money you might as well get a single LED in the colour you want!!!. lol)

I only put Arcadia Freshwater ahead of HoT5 because I absolutely love the colour that lamp gives and I haven't really looked at the HoT5 without the pink one on yet. lol

Any chance of some pics to see the various colour changes with these new lights at all as I am about to place an order for these myself.

I'll dig out the pics from the old stages of the previous journal and then take some new ones andy you will defo see the difference.

Brilliant write up and the information provided has helped me make a solid decision on the lights I want to purchase :good: .

Just out of curiosity, the picture with the HOT5 installed, is this just that light on its own as that is incredibly bright. With the Daylight HOT5 installed as well that may be overkill?

That is the Spectrum pink light on its own with daylight off.

May sound funny but with the other on it doesn't get brighter to the human eye just whiter.

This lamp on its own only gives me 30W over a 33USG which shows how good it is for 0.9WPG with both its not noticeably brighter at 1.8WPG.
