Hi

I was in my local pet shop today, chatting to the guy about Bettas. He showed me these new tanks. They are very small, only about 8 inches high, made from plastic and have stones in the bottom which apparently clean the tank. You can collect more and 'stack' them on top of each other. Not really sure what they're called.

He said they are better off in these. Mine lasted about a year which he said was average, but they would live longer in these small tanks and that they are supposed to be kept alone.

I know they do live in small puddles or paddy fields for sometime in the wild, but what are peoples thoughts on these.

I think I would get one, but they would have to be much bigger. Wouldn't like to see it in such a small tank.

Cheers
Andy.

if its 8inch high its got a possiblilty thats its a galon ive got a 1g tank that 6inch high 1ft wide and 6inch back

were they aquacandy tanks. as those are the ones that are sometimes sold with Miracle jelly beads that break down ammonia and waste.

Small Orange colored jelly type gravel ??

god just looked and some of the tanks for sale on the US ebay not even enough for a drink of water!

I know some are tiny. And whats with the Hang-on-the-wall Betta displays? A) they are tiny and B) id be paranoid about them falling!

the bowls that hang on the wall are about 1g i think but thats not as bad as these donut shaped tank.Makes me so angry

i HATE seeing bettas in small tanks its cruel even if they do have a labrynth organ they should be kept equal to any other fish :)

The hang on the wall tanks are 1/2 g they are so silly and the vase with the plants in the top for the bettas to eat...

I have to wonder when people say "bettas naturally live in small rice paddies". Has anyone seen rice paddys before?

They're HUGE! Just because the fields can dry up in the hot season doesn't mean that Bettas should live constantly in a tiny container. Imagine living in a bubble for your whole life and what your how your *ahem* bodily functions would affect your health.

exactly how can people say they are small, although they don't look very deep but they they have the width
