not sure if meny people on hear use dimmable lighting...

Hey just a quick question, where did you get dimable T5 setup from? I have been looking for ages. I would say total darkness during the night.

Got a Ghl Computer setup! may have two units with 4bulbs in each for sale sone as i had four units only needed two, but its never 100% darness over the sea is it??? you got the moon. and lightning witch i can do with my setup

I would have thought that the bulbs would be emmiting much more light than the moon would, taking into account the depth of your tank and the depth of a shallow reef in the sea...

Yeah, the only way to simulate nighttime lights is with dim 1/4 watt LED's which are on a moon cycle controller. not a cheap proposition, hence most people don't bother

what are the benifits from it??? if my lights are dimmable e.g sun riseing what sorts times would i be aiming for???

this will be the 1st time there are turning on and it will be 9.clock start from 0% up to 12oclock will be 100% light

what timeing would you think is the best?

That would be pretty ideal. If you wanted to go as true to reality as possible, you'd go from say 0% to 100% from 8-11, full till about 4 or 5, and then back to 0 by 8pm.

Moonlighting on an actual lunar cycle encourages coral and invertebrate sexual spawning as most do so based on a lunar cycle. As cool as that is and as much a sign of a healthy tank as it is, coral spawn can actually be troublesome. It tends to break down quickly and will lead to poor water quality if it is not skimmed out. IMO the benefit is not worth the cost and hassle :). The lighting thing is really cool though :)

Hi thanks for that ski! if i can work out if this led stick is a moon light or not i would be tempted to use it as a moon light my skimmer is overkill on my tank setup anyway (i think) v2 800 skimmer on 600l tank ( i think again lol)
