Just trawling about and found this. It seems strange that amazon shoudl sell this sought of stuff but wait, read the buyers comments. 'The next one died' etc. Poor fishies :byebye: I went to a really expensive garden centre/Petstore yesterday and they ahd a sign saying 'Goldfish should not be kept in bowls etc etc blah blah' and I thought great someone with some sense and then what did I see round the corner? A cra*y little Goldfish starter kit and bowl. Boggles the Mind :X
Well it just makes me angry thats all and I thought you just might want to see the link

It does say that it is a betta tank but I don't agree with keeping anything in one of those 'novelty' set-ups. I much prefer proper ones that are suited to keeping fish properly.

They are meant for kids and if a kid really wants fish, they will be happy to have them in a proper tank too IMO.

I suppose these sought of things encourage Childrens interest in animals and maybe they might move onto a larger set up but It does seem quite , Um I don't know.. Irresponsible of a company to encourage looking after an animal but only of the threshold of its ability to stay alive.

There truly are some fishkeeping gurus posting reviews *sarcasm*. "Bettas love small spaces." And I really want to live in an efficiency apartment :grr:

Just because a cartoon character lives in a pineapple under the sea, it doesn't mean that a betta wants to.

I wouldn't mind living in a pineapple under the sea...

SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS!!

Sorry got a bit carried away.

I hate novelty things like that. As if the fish couldn't care less (;)) whether they are in a pineapple or not, they'll just be wondering why they can't turn round. :sly:

Have to agree with u guys - we have recently set up a 30lt tank for our 3yr old - all the lfs tried to sell us similar "novelty" tanks. We bought a set up with low voltage electrics and a fairly childproof lid - better for the fishes than most of the smaller starter ones we saw.

BTW - our diddler is home to 6 Leopard danios, all called "nemo" surprise surprise  and a peppered cory called "pepper" and an albino cory called - yes uve guessed "nemo" - :p - at 3yrs old i guess he will change the names as often as he wants to feed them :S

Unfortunately, the myth of bettas liking to be confined in tiny spaces is a common one.

It was not that long ago when it was a very controversial subject on this forum. Members posted their opinions on both sides of the argument and the debate became quite heated.
