Ok the toadfish is a very inactive species and a sit-and-wait-to-see-what-goes-by-my-head-and-then-I'll-eat-it kind of species. So my question is how do I get him to eat none live food (to expensive)? I've tried garlic, making it dance (to seem alive, but he's to smart), but the only thing he will go for is live. Help, please.

not much i can suggest really, perhaps someone else can. I think you seem to be covering all the bases. Just try to percivere with the dead food. If you continue to fkeed live food then he will know that if he waits a while you will crack and give him what he wants. Just hold off the live and maybe hunger will make him rethink.

I tried the hunger thing, he lasted 3 weeks, I had to give in he would have starved. He is a little more persistent then I am.

If dead food really isnt an option you could feed it mollies which as far as I know can survive indefinatly in saltwater provided they are acclimitised slowly.

The price issue is still the problem, I think what I'll do is bring him into brackish water.
