Is it just me or is the conversion chart in table two a bit screwy? I can't seem to convert pints into gallons - it keeps telling me that there are 8 gallons to a pint and 80 gallons to 10 pints - now I know that is not so - am I doing something unbelievably silly to make it so screwy or is the table wrong?

1 UK Gallon is 8 UK pints, be VERY aware that US Gallons are smaller. The calculator is basically designed to convert values in one measurement system to another measurement system rathre than within the same measurement system. It gives incotrrect answers when you try that.
