Well since at the beggining of the month of november I wanted to buy a bigger tank. So my dad said for my birthday I could get one. So we went to petsmart and bought the tank filter stand everything else some colloseum decoration and some gargolye looking statues. BUT now Im doind a re-over. Or a Make-over Im going to change the gravel in to sand. ( Any links on how to take care of sand will be helpful ) So anyways Im going to turned in to a planted tank. Mostly a southamerican tank mix with asians. So what do I have to do to put in the sand.?? Also im going to take the decorations and put some bogwood. Maybe get myself some cories.

you will either need to get small baskets for plant growing medium or mix it inwith sand because sand won't be a good growing medium for rooted plants

I'd say it depends on the plants. I haven't had sand for long in my own tank so I can't speak from personal experience, but a friend of mine had for example vallisneria and some cryptocoryne (can't remember exactly what species) and they grew just fine.
