Hi I have a large planted 300l tank with mainly live bearers in I recently added around 70 RCS I got from a breeder on day one I could see a few but ever since I haven't seen a single one. I originally thought maybe they were hiding within the plants but now its been 2 weeks and still no sightings any idea what could have happened?

Shrimp are very good at hiding, especially around moulting time.

That said, what are your ammonia and nitrite levels at the moment? Whilst RCS are hardy for shrimp, they do need very good water levels.

Both ammonia and nitrite are good I did have a bad spike straight after I put them in but I did big water changes to resolve it quickly. It's strange that if they had died ive not seen any bodies but if they were still alive id expect to have seen some by now. I just don't understand it do you think they could have been eaten? would there be any evidence of this?

You said mostly live bearers are in the tank, could you tell us exactly what types of fish are in the tank. Also even cherry shrimp are susceptible to changes in pH and gH. How did you acclimatise the shrimp to your tank water? Temperature can also be a huge factor with all shrimp, even though cherry shrimp are usually a bit more forgiving with temperature.

I've had the same issue.  Bought 30 shrimp and split them between my 2 community tanks.  Not seen any at all for a few weeks now.  My smaller tank, the 20 gallon, has had no water issues.  My larger tank the 50 gallon, did have a few spikes which I addressed by huge water changes -- that issue was due to me overfeeding.  I think mine are all gone, as well.

I have Molly's guppies danios neon tetras and 1 paradise fish which I know now may go for the shrimp but it was purchased at the same time as my first shrimps and I wasn't advised by the fish shop and haven't been able to catch it to remove. I test ph regularly and this too is stable if this was the issue I'd have thought I'd see bodies as there were around 70 in total in there
