Hi.
I saw a couple of eggs in a small driftwood crack 5cm in length and 2-3mm in width. I have just spotted one of my pregnant females to be over that crack and fanning her eggs over it. I believe that she was the one depositing her eggs their. Is this normal?? And also, i have three pregnant females but i only seem to spot one shrimplet (very, very small). The tank is 10g with alot of java moss. btw, is this sponge filter safe for the really small babies? http://www.riverlea.co.nz/cart_products2312-1.html
Thanks

Shrimp carry their eggs until they are ready to hatch, they do not lay them. Did she only just recently get eggs? I've read that sometimes they drop them on accident if they're fresh.

Do you have snails?

That filter will be fine. :good:

Filter should be fine.

As for the eggs, its quite common for new mothers to drop her eggs. She's learning, and may not get it right first time. She could have also dropped them by mistake whilst fanning them.

ok thanks.
I just want them to breed. The tank is perfect for them, a fair amount of java moss, a driftwood etc. Its a bare bottom tank. I have received the shrimps (including 1 pregnant female) from a local breeder about 4-5 weeks ago but i struggle to even find 1 shrimplet. Thats why i was worried about the sponge filter, because they are so small, i thought they might have just sueezed their way into the sponge and got lost.
And yes, i have a lot of little golden mystery snails size ranging from 2-3mm. why?
Thanks again for replies
