I would say it would be fair. It's a contest to see which is the best gourami of that month, so imo it should include them all. To be honest, if it wasn't fair to put a giant gourami against a betta, it wouldn't be fair to put a giant gourami against most gourami. Or the fancier bettas against regular blue or red veiltails. But eh, it doesn't impact me either way. I don't enter them
Good point like Pk said. @Fishmanic can we do a pole for this to see if others think it is fair because Bub has convinced me. Would paradise fish be allowed?

Yep, paradise fish are also gourami.

I've never looked into these contests before, so I didn't know bettas weren't included until it was mentioned here. It was just a bit strange to see them not included. But if that's the way it's preferred, then I can understand.

Paradise fish are a type of gourami so I expect they will be allowed in the gourami competition.

We don't all own fish in every single category. For example, I couldn't take part in the tetra FOTM contest as I don't have any tetras. But I do have pearl gouramis, if I can manage to take a decent photo of them.

Just as a matter of interest (as I have them), what would Espei's rasboras (and harlequins) be classed as? And Daisy's rice fish - though I have noticed some sites class them as killifish

A shell cut in half

What makes you say that?

We will run an “any freshwater fish” contest at some point so rasboras or any other type of fish could be included.

I think large gouramis and dwarf gouramis would be fair competion in the same contest. There are some beautiful dwarf gouramis.

I've had two dwarf gouramis that died due to dgd. But , luckily the last one I bought a few months ago is doing fantastically. Third time is a charm.

Want to buy more fish....so bad

What happened?
My cousin (15) ended up hospitalized last night and hes completely paralyzed on the left side and partially on the right side. This is the third time hes been hospitalized. The first time he went into a coma for 3 weeks
