so i really like the bolivian rams at my LFS but i have no idea if they'd go well with whats already in my tank. right now i have 10 tiger barbs and 3 red tailed black sharks(2 are going back). so if i got two rams, how would they fare? the rams would be the biggest thing in the tank, but im wondering if the barbs would just harass them to no end?

ive never seen anyone on here mixing rams with barbs, am i missing something? do you not mix cichlids with cyprinids? any thought would be great! thanks!

I have 6 green barbs, various other fish and 2 blue rams in a 125l tank and there's no problems. They even all bunch together at feeding times, so I would say there's no problems!

How many barbs do you have and how big is the tank? I would avoid mixing blue/gold rams with tiger barbs but bolivians are a lot hardier and can stand up for themselves so they would be fine as long as the barbs are in a group of at least 6. Also, the rams are not going to be the biggest thing in the tank - the RTBS will get to 6" and the tiger barbs to 2.5" or so (which is about the same size as the rams). I know they'll be the biggest now but, if the tank's too small, once all these fish are mature, you'll have problems.

my tank is about 60 gallons and right now i have ten tiger barbs, so i dont think those two issues will be a problem for me. thanks for the info!
